Each tile pulls its status directly from that vendor's public feed (Statuspage.io API, GCP incidents JSON, or RSS). Refresh cycle is 30 seconds; edge cache is 60 seconds so bursts of visitors during a real outage don't cascade into vendor rate limits.
Status bands: clear skies means the vendor is reporting nothing wrong; patchy weather means there's an active minor / regional incident; stormy is a major multi-region incident; unknown is a source that didn't respond in time — click through to the vendor's own page.
